As students progress through middle school and high school, school work and homework become more difficult, especially in subjects such as math and science.  Many students need extra help understanding new concepts or need an additional opportunity to practice and cement new skills until they can handle homework independently.  Some students may also have a deficiency in fundamental areas such as reading, writing, or math that contribute to homework struggles.

At the Somerset Learning Center, we provide complete academic support that is effective and unique.  Whether the difficulty is in math, science, or english, we offer immediate homework help to make a demanding class easier and more manageable.  At the same time, our tutors re-teach and reinforce the concepts a student has not mastered in the past, which might have led to the difficulty in the first place.   When students receive help with homework with difficult subjects or assignments, we provide homework help using their own textbooks and materials.  As soon as practical, we use our own specialized materials to provide supplemental instruction to correct knowledge and skill gaps.  This helps the student improve grades and confidence immediately, and to build a firm foundation for future learning.  It is also effective to combine a program in homework help (i.e. math, science, algebra) with tutoring in Study Skills. Students not only improve grades in a particular subject, but also learn the skills necessary for effective studying.
